Wagons East, A’s Travel to Falher
The Grande Prairie Athletics look to keep pace with both the Fort St. John Flyers and Spirit River Rangers for first overall as they play their first back to back games of the season.
Two games against former Eastern division teams, tonight in Fahler and Saturday night at home against the Grimshaw Huskies.
For the Athletics it’s two must win games. Fahler has gone 3-1 in their last four games which has been good enough to get them out of the NPHL basement and push them into fourth place, putting them just four points behind both the Athletics and Flyers heading into this weekends action. The Pirates currently have a game in hand on Grande Prairie but more importantly a win tonight would help level the playing field between the former divisions.
With the 2014-2015 season merger between East and West, the West has dominated taking all twelve games so far this season.
Saturday night sees the Huskies make their first visit to the Coca Cola Centre.
As of last night the Huskies remain the only winless team in the NPHL with an 0-6 record. This comes off the heels of a close 3 to 2 loss to the Manning Comets in Grimshaw.
