Leading into the 2013 – 2014 NPHL season NPHL teams may have another playoff competitor as the Fort St. John Flyers have made it known to the league that they may not register as a Triple AAA team meaning they would be eligible for the NPHL playoffs.
If the Flyers did compete in the NPHL playoffs it would push the West Division to 5 teams likely meaning the last place club would probably miss out on playoffs as was the case a few years ago when the Horse Lake Chiefs were apart of the playoff situation.
While the news of Fort St. John comes as a surprise to a few it appears that it’s been talked about for the past few years. A lot of whether or not the club competes once more in the chase for the Allan Cup depends on the current roster as a few players have hinted at retirement meaning longer hours recruiting trying to attract other players to make another run.
It’s been expected that the organization will make it’s decision sometime over the course of the Summer months of June or July.
