Grande Prairie, AB – The Grande Prairie Athletics set a season high in goals (14) and hit double digits for the third time this season as they dropped the visiting Grimshaw Huskies 14-0 Saturday night at the Coca Cola Centre.
Paced by the line of Mac Caron (4 goals, 4 assists), Morgan MacLean (4 goals, 3 assists) and Andrew Buote (1 goal, 2 assists) the A’s would score 8 in the final period.
Grande Prairie would open the first period with four straight as Buote, MacLean, Caron and Ryan Trudeau all scored to help push the game out of reach early on.
As the second rolled around teams traded chances but Grande Prairie would be the only team to score as Caron and MacLean once again would score both goals.
The wheels fell off for the Huskies in the third period.
Grande Prairie scored 8 in the third, Nolan Trudeau (2), Tyrell Mason, Ryan Trudeau, Morgan MacLean (2) and Mac Caron (2) rounded out the scoring for Grande Prairie and helped push their record to 8-3-1 and close to within the first place Fort St. John after the Flyers lost to Dawson Creek earlier in the night.
Up Next: The Athletcs have a few days off before returning to the road this Thursday night in Dawson Creek. The final home game of 2016 will take place Saturday night (Dec 17) as the A’s host the Falher Pirates.
